The magician shows an opened book to the spectators and declares that it contains a great secret of magic. He then bets them that he can make a chosen card from the deck vanish from the book.

The magician asks a spectator to freely choose any card from the deck and sign it. The card is then placed back into the deck which is then shuffled. The magician asks the spectator to think of their card as he riffles through the cards.

The magician takes the book and pretends to randomly select a page. He slowly unfolds it to show that there is no card there. The magician slowly turns the pages of the book until he comes to the page where the spectator's signed card should be. However, there is no card on that page either!

The magician then dramatically turns to another page in the book and unfolds it to reveal that their chosen card has miraculously vanished from within!

How to Play The Great Book of Magic

The Great Book of Magic is an intense and strategic card game that can be played by 2 to 4 players. The goal of the game is to have the most points at the end of the game. To achieve this, players must cast spells, summon creatures, and use magical items to defeat their opponents.

The game is played in turns. On a player's turn, they may play one card from their hand. Cards may be used for one of four purposes: casting spells, summoning creatures, using magical items, or advancing their book's position on the track.

Casting Spells

Spells are the primary way to defeat your opponents in The Great Book of Magic. There are three types of spells: attack spells, defense spells, and support spells. Attack spells deal damage to your opponents' creatures or heroes. Defense spells protect your creatures or heroes from attacks. Support spells provide various benefits such as increasing your creature's stats or giving you an extra card.

To cast a spell, you must first discard a number of cards equal to the spell's cost. Then, perform the spell's effect. Most spells require you to choose one or more targets. If the spell doesn't have any targets, it will affect all opposing creatures or heroes.

Summoning Creatures

Creatures are your main means of attacking your opponents in The Great Book of Magic. There are three types of creatures: minions, elementals, and dragons. Minions are weak but numerous and can quickly overwhelm your opponent if left unchecked. Elementals are more powerful than minions but less numerous. They can take down difficult enemies with ease but can be destroyed easily if not properly defended. Dragons are the most powerful type of creature and can easily take down even the strongest foes; however, they are also rare and highly sought after by all players.

To summon a creature, you must first discard a number of cards equal to the creature's cost. Then, place the creature card face-up in front of you on the battlefield. If there isn't enough room for the creature on the battlefield, it is placed in your discard pile instead; however, you cannot summon any creatures if your deck is empty). Each player starts with a field size of 5 spaces (4 spaces for minions and 1 space for each other type of creature) which increases by 1 space each time a player summons a new minion (minions take up 2 spaces). The maximum field size is 10 spaces (9 spaces for minions and 1 space for other type of creature). When a player has no more cards in their hand, they lose automatically regardless of how many creatures they have on the battlefield (if there are no creatures on the battlefield when this happens then they lose as normal).

Using Magical Items

Magical items allow you to strengthen your defenses or attack your opponents directly. There are three types of magical items: armor, weapons, and potions. Armor increases your armor rating which reduces incoming damage from attacks (damage that isn't reduced by armor is still dealt to your health directly). Weapons increase your weapon rating which allows you to deal more damage when attacking (weapons only affect melee attacks; ranged attacks ignore weapon ratings). Potions give you various benefits such as increased stats or extra cards.

To use a magical item, you must first discard a number of cards equal to its cost (unless otherwise noted). Then, attach the item card to one of your characters (creatures or heroes). You cannot attach more than one item per character unless otherwise noted. Items remain attached until they are destroyed or discarded; however, if an item would cause a character to exceed their stat limits then it is immediately discarded instead (e..g., an item that gives +3 attack would make a character with 6 attack automatically discard that item).
